Golden Gate Marathon Information

As you view San Francisco tucked behind the rolling green hills of the Marin Headlands, you'll liken the image to Dorothy encountering the Emerald City. One thing's certain...the views this course offers are unlike any other!

DESCRIPTION: Marathon, Half Marathon & 7 Mile
This is a gem of an event! You'll start and finish at Rodeo Beach located at Fort Cronkite in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (west of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County). Along this scenic trail run through the Marin Headlands, you'll soak in panoramic vistas of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco cityscape and the lush Pacific shoreline peppered with vibrant wildflowers. The course is a combination of single track hiking trails, fire roads, pavement and a beach crossing.

The
Marathon course climbs and descends 4,400 feet. The Marathon is two loops of the Half Marathon course.
The
Half Marathon climbs and descends 2,200 feet.
The
7 Mile course climbs and descends fewer than 1,000 feet

Event Fees: 7 Mile and 1/2 Marathon
$30 early entrant fee
$35 after 3/15/09

$60 after 3/15/10


INCENTIVES
T-shirt for all participants.
Ribbons to first three male and female finishers, in each 5-year age groups for each distance.
A one-year subscription to Trail Runner Magazine will be given to one randomly selected runner.
